How to Caption Videos

All videos entered into the Stretch 2.0 contest must be captioned. There are several ways to do this, but we recommend YouTube (or Vimeo) + Amara (universalsubtitles.org).

• Step 1: Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo.

• Step 2: Go to: www.universalsubtitles.org

• Step 3: Watch the introduction video (1:23) and try the demo: www.universalsubtitles.org/en/demo. There are 4 easy steps:
  • Typing: The video plays for 4 seconds at a time then pauses for you to type what you hear. You can press the replay button, if you have missed some words.
  • Syncing: Synchronize the lines you typed in the previous step with the video.
  • Edit title and description:
  • Review: Review your work before you submit.
• Step 4: Go to www.universalsubtitles.org/en/videos/create to subtitle your video and get started!
